Fortis Energy's Oslomej 80 MWp Solar Power Plant Recorded Its Seasonal Generation Peak
Fortis Energy's Oslomej 80 MWp Solar Power Plant recorded its seasonal generation peak in July, as extended daylight hours and consistently high solar irradiation drove output to its annual high.Throughout July and August, the plant operated at full rated capacity during peak sunshine hours and maintained an availability rate above 99%. In summer, when electricity demand rises with increased cooling needs, the plant delivers maximum output precisely when the grid needs it most, meeting regional energy requirements with clean, renewable power.
A 104 MWh battery energy storage system, currently under development and expected to start installation by year-end, will support the facility, storing electricity generated during the hours of strongest sunshine and delivering it to the grid during periods of peak demand.
Built on the site of an abandoned coal mine, the Oslomej Solar Power Plant stands as a model for green energy transformation in Southeast Europe, proving how legacy fossil fuel infrastructure can be repurposed into a source of clean, renewable power.
