Fortis Energy has installed the third meteorological mast, Gornjak MM03, as part of the wind measurement campaign for the 194.4 MW Gornjak Wind Power Plant Project.
The 102-meter Gornjak MM03 mast, located at the Vrata site (815 m a.s.l.), is now operational to measure and validate the data gathered from the first two masts, while capturing the comprehensive datasets required to verify energy yield projections and support the technical evaluation of the 194.4 MW project.
Gornjak Wind Power Plant is one of the most significant renewable energy infrastructure projects in Southeast Europe. Featuring 27 wind turbines with a rated capacity of 7.2 MW each, the project is engineered to deliver an annual yield exceeding 520 GWh of clean energy.
The installation of the Gornjak MM03 mast represented a significant logistical undertaking that demonstrated the technical resilience of our teams. Faced with inaccessible, mountainous terrain in the area of Petrovac na Mlavi and Žagubica, our teams completed the works in a record timeframe despite severe weather conditions and geographical obstacles.
In a high-stakes environment where traditional machinery could not operate, 35 m³ of structural materials were precision-applied across 7 independent foundations and anchor blocks through specialized on-site techniques, ensuring structural integrity without compromising the landscape. The mast consists of 33 lattice steel segments and 1 pyramidal top segment. Each individual segment, weighing approximately 100 kg, was transported and assembled to reach a total structural weight of 3,500 kg.
Managed by Fortis under the leadership of Aleksandar Nikolić, this work serves as a prime example of our commitment to local development and regional cooperation. The successful realization of this milestone was made possible through the synergy of our project participants, where GMS Consult d.o.o. Belgrade acted as the designer and supervision company, and ŠIPING d.o.o. Zemun performed as the general contractor. By prioritizing local expertise through TRI-D IZGRADNJA for civil works and integrating international technical support from Farmel Enerji for steel structure installation, we continue to foster sustainable growth and strengthen the regional industrial ecosystem.
